Here To Slay

The magnetic and magnificent month of March is upon us and what’s my plans? I’m here to slay baby! Living my best life with the man of my dreams, children that are perfecting my patience and true essence of what love is, along with a career that is the perfect blend of freedom, inspiration, and life-altering impact.

500 is the number of lives I want to help this year reach their goals for 2018. Whether that via my coaching services, books, events, or talks. Last month I wrapped up my very first coaching course, Get Your Life. For four weeks I met with a dynamic group of women to help them become more disciplined, elevate their mindset, learn their gifts and how to leverage them to build streams of positive income. Here are just what a few of them had to say.

On Sunday I had the privilege of speaking at our church. My message was entitled, “I’m on a Mission!” you can click the link to watch the replay. It is my belief when you wake up each day you must awake with purpose on purpose. You must make a personal commitment to live a mission focused life. All of us have different missions, goals and destinies, but whatever you do live your life on purpose!

Here are a few things that are coming up that you would want to put on your calendar:

Elevate Your Brand, a free webinar where I am going to teach strategies on how to build an authentic, credible brand that attracts your ideal clients and customers. Whether you believe it or not, you are a brand. Everything from what you wear, eat, post, and do speaks to your brand. So if you are ready for growth, register here for the webinar on Monday, March 12 at 8pm PST.

Next up, Relationship series at New Life. Each relationship in your life is either pushing you closer to your destiny or causing detours. Together with my husband, for the month of March we are pouring into the lives of singles, couples, and friends to ensure your #squadgoals are met.

What I might be the most excited about is my annual women’s empowerment event, The Power of Her Brunch. This event has grown larger in impact and size each year! This is a gathering where powerful connections sre made, powerful conversations are had, and you leave feeling like you can make those impossible dreams a possibility. This is how real this event is becoming, that women are buying not single tickets, but TABLES! Yes!! This speaks to the sincere desire for women to build positive intersections and intentionally position themselves in space for self improvement.

So, sista as you can see I am not here for the games, but here to slay every assignment God has prescribed my hands to. I love letting my light shine and being an example of what a life lived by faith can produce. May the month of March bring you closer to your destiny, strength to endure the tough moments, and a hope that can’t whither away.

xoxo, Jenn

Living My Best Life

The season of life I am in right now, I can’t really put a label on it, so I’ve just been saying, “I’m living my best life!” It’s like I’m on joy overload even though my kids still drive me crazy at times, I could use a few more zeros in my bank account, and one of the most important relationships in my life isn’t fully where I would want it to be. I want to say the source of this euphoric feeling comes from me fully knowing that I am living out my purpose and I’ve entered into “my season”. For the past few months, there have been disciplines that I have stayed committed to that I believe have ushered me into this “season”.

The first would be a more dedicated prayer life. It’s not that I wasn’t praying before, it’s just that now I am praying more strategically and with a greater understanding of the word and conviction of the power that flows from faith. Secondly, I penned 21 declarations that I recite daily since January 1. One of my declarations that really lights my fire is BOLDNESS IS MY NEW PORTION! I refuse to just exist and live within the comforts of normalcy. If God said I can have it, guess what? I am going after it! The Bible teaches us plain as day, that the power of life and death is in our tongue! I have been declaring some big things and allowing God’s grace to fill the gaps. Thirdly, pouring into others has been a mainstay and something that gives me so much life. To know that my mere words and how I live makes a positive impression on someone else humbles me every time.

I do not want to give off the impression that I have always been in the season of life. When my family and I moved to the Bay, on January 15, 2011 almost exactly 7 years ago, my life was the total opposite. I was fearful of the future because I closed down my thriving event planning business in our former city of residence. I didn’t fully know and understand the Lord to discern what was happening. I felt lonely and unsure how  being a stay at home mom to two kids under the age of 3 and starting a church from the ground up was going to pan out. Now that I think about it, 7 is the number of completion, and just maybe I’ve finally come full circle. That was one heck of a circle I tell you!  Within that circle, we lived at five different addresses, survived on 1.5 incomes, homesickness, and also God continuously making a way out of no way!

To finally be in a place where I have multiple successful businesses, on track towards buying a home, and knowing without a shadow of a doubt I am where God ordained me to be, I could scream for joy! I wouldn’t take anything from my journey and I can still say with all certainty, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

Are You Disciplined For Destiny?

Hey there! A few years ago I was the worse at meeting deadlines, bringing things from thought to fruition and keeping my life on track. I thought about it for a minute and pinpointed some daily disciplines that made the difference in my life. Many of us want to reach all of what God has in store for us, but the fact remains you must be disciplined in order to do so.

Check out the video below and consider implementing them into your life.

Living a Life of Manifestation

Between the old adage, “you will have what you say” and the greatest book ever written the bible “death and life are in the power of the tongue” I believe they hit it on the head. I have never witnessed a person who continuously speaks negatively live a flourishing life. The habitual practice of speaking life will yield a harvest you won’t have room enough to store. It’s been only four days into 2018 and I challenged myself to speak aloud my 21 declarations. These declarations are packed with the truth of God’s word, some statements that stretch my faith, and things I can’t wait for God to do in my life. One of the last statements I have been rehearsing is, “I am overwhelmed with blessings.” I mean come on who doesn’t want to be suffocating from the blessings from above? I left it up to God in how He may want to bless me. He is more creative and has a wide thinking pattern than I.

My family brought in the New Year in Reno, NV this year. When I first heard that this was our destination I honestly wasn’t fully thrilled. Nevertheless, we packed up our 5-month-old and two-grade school sons in the SUV and trekked it up the 80 Fwy for 3.5 hours. Although the first room we checked into had an old smoke odor, the hotel was able to promptly switch us. Each day special moments and memories were etched into our hearts. If you ask the boys I’m sure Jaylen might tell you winning a 52″ stuffed giant panda bear was his highlight. Darius’ probably was all the food we got to eat along with his new found love for rock climbing. For my husband and I, of course, it was seeing their faces light up and the ability to pull away. We are quite the food snobs so we were pleased when we found this amazing pizza place Noble Pizza and a tasty breakfast spot Two Chicks.

I am overwhelmed with blessings!

Just as God does sometimes, He saves the best for last. Our final day on this mini vacation we took the scenic route back home which brought us up to the elevation of 8,236 feet to Mount Rose. I had never heard of the mountain. This allowed us the chance to whip out our snow gear and hurl a few snowballs. This is what winters were made for! The end goal was to see the beauty held within Lake Tahoe, a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada. It’s known for its clarity and is the second deepest lake in the U.S.! I could literally stand out on the shore and gaze at the panorama of surrounding mountains on all sides.

I am overwhelmed with blessings!

After looking through the many pictures I took on my phone, a huge grin grew on my face. The thought of having the means to take a trip, be together with my family, create our own traditions, and have fun all while doing it? God, you are so amazing! Who would have thought a 212-mile trip could encompass so many blessings. I shared all of that to say, I am going to keep on declaring…

I am overwhelmed with blessings!

Dear 2017

Dear 2017,

I could kiss you in the mouth if you had one, so instead, I will bless the Lord with my lips. Lord, you have been too kind! 2017 you gave me two things that I will never forget, first my daughter Jayla Simone Hammock and become an author.

We waited over 10 years to meet her and she is every form of perfection. Giving birth to Jayla was no easy feat. Morning sickness was at its high early on in the pregnancy then towards the end, the anticipation of her arrival was intense. Me…a mother of a girl FINALLY.

While Jayla is definitely the highlight of 2017, who would have known that 2017 would be the year that I would publish my first book and become an author. The writing process began in 2016, but Dream Chaser was birthed in 2017. I learned so much about myself during the writing process. I pushed myself to grow as a writer. I dug deep to be vulnerable so the lessons I’ve learned can be a blessing to someone else. If you want to stay motivated try earnestly remembering victories of the past. This will surely be a milestone in my faith that gives me permission to believe God for more.

2017, I think you were rooting for me to come fully into myself. Not that I didn’t know who I was but the totality of who I am. I wasn’t fully aware of my depth and you wanted me to stand back to take a good look in the mirror to see a glimpse of all the glory God packaged into my 5 foot 4 frame. This was the year my entrepreneur mindset shifted gears. This was the year “Proverbs 31 woman” was eloquently written on my forehead through the grace of God. On top of writing a book that yielded great sales numbers, I hosted a profitable women’s empowerment brunch, co-founded an inspirational clothing line and began to see the value in my years of personal, spiritual, and professional experience to step into the role of a coach.

Our family celebrated many milestones, musical recitals, not many vacations, but next year we will be certain to make room for Paris or maybe Hawaii. I can remember at the turn of 2016, declaring that 2017 would be the year of Baby, Book, and Brunch. All of which were successful highlights of the year. In 2017 I was blessed to strengthen meaningful relationships, which made the difference. We all need love, support, and a trusted space to let down your hair. Speaking of hair, in 2017 I bid a farewell to my short hair and grew it out, to a blunt bob which I love! Kellie Rowland gave me the inspiration for the look.

2017, you were delightful up until the last minute with the surprise engagement of my best friend and the early release of my brother to have a new start in life and bringing in the new year with a surprise road trip to Reno with the fam. Typically I like to give each year a scripture theme. It becomes a promise from God that I stand on and speak over my life. With all that I purpose in my heart to accomplish in 2018, the Lord gave me Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

With a promise like that, I am shooting for the moon!

Sincerely,

Jennifer

Ugh…OMG. WTH?

Ugh! WTH? OMG! Are just a few ways I respond when discouragement begins to hit my life. The feeling of discouragement can feel like a bee sting, a quick and sharp pain that appears from no where. Discouragement can also be filled with agony and a strong emotional pull towards depression if you don’t manage it properly. I will be honest and say the bulk of my most discouraging moments were due to sources outside of my control. When I would announce events the lack luster response levels would shoot down my initial hype. I was discouraged when we were unable to buy a house this year. I felt discouraged when relationship expectations were not met.

It is safe to say each day can present countless opportunities to become discouraged. This is one of the reasons why I stress to my children the fact that things will not always go your way. As children the smallest things can rain on their parade. Sometimes its an unfavorable lunch menu to not getting your favorite seat in the car. When I was considering topics for this month’s webinar at first I wanted to teach about subjects connected to entrepreneurship or strategic planning. While both of these topics are great and needful, it dawned on me that no one can escape the emotion of discouragement because let’s face it life happens. It’s about what you do with life’s lemons and sour circumstances that will navigate you away from discouragement and to your dreams.

I believe that the best way you can help others is by guiding them through experiences you have conquered. It’s not that I never get discouraged or always find my way to success because I don’t! But I can detect when I’m drawing near the deep end and need to change my perspective about the situation so I can flourish and reach my destiny. So if you find yourself like me discouraged from time to time, register for my webinar that I pray encourages you. Please leave any questions in the comment box so I can answer them on the webinar. I’m praying for you!

Part II Book Dream Chaser Discussion

The excitement I feel when sharing the message of Dream Chaser is so unreal. I find myself pausing in conversation after saying, “I mention that in my book.” It’s finally settling in that I AM AN AUTHOR!! Crazy…right?!

As I approach the birth of my first daughter and commemorate the publishing of my first book I can’t help but to praise God for His grace. Last Sunday a few dozen folks joined me online to discuss Part II of my book, entitled Faith Factors. This section and topic is extremely important if you every want to reach higher heights and get that dream out of your mind and into reality.

Check out the conversation below, share your comments, and submit any questions that come to mind. I want to inspire as many people as possible to go after their dreams!!!

Encouragement for the Dream Chaser

I found myself earlier this week at the hair salon sitting under the dryer. Ladies, I think we can estimate how long I was there for. While my hair dried I began to think about my personal Dream Chasing journey. Believe or not, I am rereading through my own book to find reminders and encouragement as I face a new mountain to climb.

I love the idea how God doesn’t allow us to settle for less. He doesn’t allow one goal achieved, one battle won to commence our journey. I’ve learned that each victory builds your faith and gives you more ammunition to take on the next giant.

So no matter where you are on your journey, I wanted these few points from my book notes to encourage you.

Dream Chasers…

  1. Silence their fears and amplify their faith

Fear will always follow you like a shadow. Your job is to shine the light of truth over it so it diminishes. When that erry voice tells you to hold off or that no one will support you. Turn up your faith and move forward. Do this be speaking positive affirmations and the word of God over your situations. Say things like:

  • All of my needs are met
  • My harvest is coming
  • I am full of faith and not fear
  1. Acknowledge your insecurities and embrace grace

We all have an area in our life that we aren’t as confident as we should be in. Maybe your lack of education, body frame, or the way you speak sometimes makes you second guess yourself. This is when you have to confess that you are fearfully and wonderfully made and that God’s grace can bridge the gap.

  1. The process builds character

If you have ever witnessed the beauty of the Taj Mahal, Effel Tower, or the skyscrapers downtown what you probably haven’t seen is its foundation. No one boasts about how solid the concrete holding up these works of art are. Compliments are only give to the exterior. The process to building your dream is making you strong, so you can stand the test of time. The process builds character and proves how bad you want it. With this thought understand that with every step of preparation you are fortifying your dream to have great impact.
I hope these tidbits have encouraged you. Continue to believe in yourself and the power of God working in you. Be sure to pick up Dream Chaser for an in depth guide to putting your dreams in motion.

Seven Times Better

Last month our women’s ministry went on a fast. In the midst of that time of consecration, the Lord spoke to me through the book of Daniel about becoming Seven Times Better!  The video below is where I shared an encouraging message that spurred viewers to fully believe in that declaration.

Check it out and leave your comments below.

Do you have vision?

In our current culture of start-ups, fresh ideas, and new products arriving on shelves (not to mention your IG feed) a visionary mindset has certainly been embraced by many. While you don’t have to be a business owner to have vision, I believe it is necessary for every living being to have vision for their lives.

When I was younger the vision I had for my life was far from what it is today. Believe it or not, I never dreamed about getting married, having children or living outside of sunny Southern California. As I got older, matriculated through college and experienced life I learned that the horizon was much more vast than what I perceived through my narrow eyesight. Having witnessed companies birthed in garages morph into billion dollar enterprises, women with a desire to see themselves achieving their destinies by returning back to school, and artist relentlessly pursuing their passions to share with the world it begs for myself and maybe you too, to ask yourself, “Do I have a vision?”

I don’t want to confuse having a vision with being a millionaire, having thousands of social media followers, nor being successful in the world’s eye. Do you posses a vision that has created a pathway that helps you to easily accept or dispel opportunities that may come your way? Do you have a vision that acts as a compass guiding you through life, or does your emotions tell you where to to turn? Having a clear vision allows you to filter through options, draws you towards destiny and gives you confidence when embarking upon uncommon paths.

Grab your journal and answer these three questions below that will help to ignite, refine, and define your vision:

  1. Ask God, “What would you have me do with the life you’ve given me?” Don’t just ask once, but make this an ongoing prayer and make sure you are discerning and watchful of recurring themes that may begin to occur overtime.
  2. What does success look like for me?
  3. Pin point one area of your life that you would want remodeled and envision specifically how different you want at least five things to look.

Without a vision, the people perishProverbs 29:18
